Northern Powergrid, the company responsible for keeping the lights on for 3.9 million homes and businesses across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, has been named 11th in this year's North East Top 200 Companies.
The electricity distributor was also named fourth in the Top Inbound Companies category.
Northern Powergrid's Head of Tyne and Wear Zone, Andy Bilclough, who attended the Top 200 awards, said: “Being placed so high in this year's list is welcome news.
"We're proud to be part of the region’s business community and powering everyday life for 8 million customers across our operating area in the North East and beyond.
“We’re committed to providing an electricity network that help enables economic growth and supports the Northern Powerhouse agenda.
“Our ambitious eight-year plan, which started in 2015, will see us invest some £3 billion in our network. Through our plan we will deliver more for less for customers, including successfully reducing network-related charges on customers’ bills from their chosen electricity supplier, and delivering 20% shorter and 8% fewer power cuts.
“Innovation also remains at the heart of our business as we drive forward projects which will deliver long-term customer benefits and prepare for a smarter, more flexible network that can support the region now and in the future.”
