Northern Powergrid home visit policy

Published: 17 April 2012

Northern Powergrid is reminding customers about its home visit policy and what they can expect from staff and contractors who need to call at domestic addresses.

Most of the appointments we make are at the customer’s request although, from time to time, we may need to visit your home to inspect or maintain our equipment.

The visit will either be made by one of our staff or a contractor working for us. Northern Powergrid follows a code of practice so that customers can be sure that all visits are made by properly-trained, genuine staff or contractors.

All Northern Powergrid employees and contractors will show an identity card with their company name, their own name and reference number and a colour photograph of the individual.

Where possible, all vehicles used for visits to customers' premises will carry the Northern Powergrid or contractor's logo and all Northern Powergrid employees will wear clothing bearing the company logo or name.

We strongly advise customers who have any doubts about whether a caller is genuine, to not let them into your home.

We operate a password scheme for customers who may have problems with their sight or would just like to feel more secure. For more information, please call our general enquiries number on 0845 070 7172.
