Northern Powergrid response to January high winds
Published: 06 January 2012
High winds in the Northeast and Yorkshire yesterday caused electricity supplies to be interrupted to approximately 20,000 of our customers during the course of the day with approximately 150 separate fault incidents on our network. Our major incident management plan was effectively executed and the majority of our customers were all restored before midnight.
A very small number of our customers were left without electricity overnight; we are pleased to confirm that electricity supplies have now been restored to these customers.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that was caused and would also like to thank you for your patience.
If you have any concerns or would like to report a loss of electricity please contact Northern Powergird’s power cut helpline on 0800 66 88 77 (Northeast customers) or 0800 375 675 (Yorkshire customers) anytime night or day if your power supply has been affected.
