Power restored to customers in York

Published: 26 April 2012

We can confirm that there was a power cut in York on Thursday 26 April at around 12.40pm, which affected 3,282 properties in the YO23 and YO24 areas of the city. Power was restored to 2,133 properties by automatically re-routing the electricity supply on the network at round 2.20pm yesterday afternoon.

The remaining 1,149 properties were restored via generators connected to the substations lastnight at 11.40pm.

The power cut was caused by two underground cable faults on the network. Engineers are currently on site and work to repair the fault will commence as soon as the fault has been located.

We would like to apologise to those customers that were affected for the inconvenience caused.

If any customers that were affected by the power cut have any queries or concerns they can contact our 24-hour emergency helpline on 0800 66 88 77.
