To request 'one-off' safedig maps please contact the Northern Powergrid Records Enquiries Section on a job by job basis, preferably in writing or via fax, with a plan showing the area of intended work and we will supply the necessary records for that specific area in print format. Please give as much information as possible ie. Location Plan, Site Address, Post Code or Grid Reference, as well as a valid return postal address.

To register for the on-demand services for the purposes of Safedig Maps please complete the ‘Agreement’ shown in the download section at the bottom of the page, and email to Records.Information@northernpowergrid.com stating whether you require access to Northeast, Yorkshire or both SafeDig Map services.

There are currently two on-demand systems for our two licence areas:

Northern Powergrid (Northeast): The system allows you to download our mains record maps along with an application to aid the locating, viewing and printing. Click here to register for the Northern Powergrid (Northeast) system. Once we have received your completed ‘Agreement’ and your online registration. Your account will be activated and we will email you with your logon details.

Northern Powergrid (Yorkshire): The system allows you to locate, view and print mains record plans via a website. Once we have received your completed ‘Agreement’ your account will be created and activated. We will email you with your logon details and how to access the website.

Important Information

IDNOs (Independent Distribution Network Operators) are operating within our Licensed Area. IDNOs have been granted a licence to operate existing or newly built distribution networks, for example Housing Estates. Northern Powergrid is not responsible for these Networks and as a result the assets that comprise them are not shown on our records.

IDNOs should be contacted directly for their asset records and care should be exercised when working in the vicinity of sites that may have both Northern Powergrid and IDNO assets present.

Mains Records

If you are an ICP requiring access to our mains records for:

Northern Powergrid (Northeast): Complete the ‘Agreement’ and registration process detailed above as per Safedig Maps.

Northern Powergrid (Yorkshire): This service requires a separate ‘Agreement’ process; please contact us via Records.Information@northernpowergrid.com stating that you are an ICP requiring access to our mains records. Subject to your eligibility we will email you a copy of the user agreement together with further instructions.
