The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is responsible for advising Government on matters relating to electromagnetic fields. Northern Powergrid follows exposure levels set by Government and undertakes all activities in accordance with HPA guidance.
Extensive research
Over the last 20 years, major research projects throughout the world have explored the possibility that electromagnetic fields may have an adverse effect on health. To date, the general conclusion is that there is no established link between electromagnetic fields and ill health.
