Electricity disconnection of single properties

In order for a connection to be removed, you (the property owner or authorised agent) will need to contact your electricity supplier to let them know about the disconnection. Details about the property / site will need to be provided including the Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN - found on the electricity bill) and the appropriate Meter Serial Number (found on the meter). If you cannot find the correct MPAN, then please call the Meter Point Administration Services team on 0845 33 00 889.

After being contacted, your electricity supplier will undertake the necessary work to remove the meter and they will send a notification to us asking for the supply to be disconnected. We will then contact you to confirm that all the details are correct and that a permanent disconnection is required.

Information required

We reserve the right to decline the request from your supplier if all the necessary information is not provided, such as a full postal address or a contact name and phone number.

We will provide you with a service disconnection application form, which should be completed and returned to us. You will also need to provide a site plan that shows the location of the service to be disconnected in relation to any nearby buildings and roads.

Please note: Disconnections cannot be processed without a completed service disconnection application form and a site location plan.

Quotations and lead times

After the service disconnection application form has been received, a quotation for the disconnection work will be issued within 5 working days. Once this quotation has been accepted, we will contact you to agree a work date. The lead time for completing the disconnection is a minimum of eight weeks. These timescales are subject to any requirements under the Traffic Management Act.

For safety reasons, please treat all our electrical equipment at the premises as ‘live’ until you are in possession of written confirmation that it has been disconnected from all sources of supply. Please do not undertake any works likely to affect the safety and / or security of our electrical equipment at the premises.
