If you represent a local authority or highways agency department, a private developer or landowner and their agents, and you would like Northern Powergrid to move, remove or disconnect one of our existing distribution network cables, overhead lines or substation buildings, we hope the guidance within this page will be of help to you.
The types of service we offer are:
NRASWA diversions in the highway
To offer terms for and divert existing distribution network assets such as mains cables and overhead lines which are installed in the public highway and subject to the terms of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRASWA).
Private property diversions
To investigate, offer terms for and divert where necessary distribution network assets such as mains cables or overhead lines which are installed on private property.
Supply substation recoveries
To investigate, offer terms for and recover where necessary distribution network substation assets which are installed on private property and are no longer required by the customer or ourselves to provide a supply connection.
Consent terminations
To investigate and renegotiate new terms for or divert distribution network assets such as mains cables or overhead lines which are installed on private property for which the owner has terminated consent.
Please note if you require us to move our network assets as part of a development project that will involve new supply connections, we will normally manage the diversion element as an integral part of the new connection project. This ensures we offer you a fully integrated, more cost-effective overall design. If the diversion element is required some time in advance of your new development project, please make this clear when making your application.
In providing you with a diversion it may be necessary for us to obtain wayleaves / consents. For further information on wayleaves please click here.
