Move my supply (service alteration)

Making changes to the layout of your property? Need to move your electricity supply? Moving your electricity supply is referred to as a Service Alteration. This is usually required when the layout of a property changes.

Only need to move your meter? Find out who your supplier  is and they’ll arrange this for you. We will move the cut out (fuse unit) and the incoming cable, the moving of the meter is the responsibility of your electricity supplier.

  • The address where the service alteration is required;

  • If you are connected via an underground or overhead service cable;
  • Whether the service is looped from your neighbours; and
  • The distance, in meters, you need to move the service and the meter.

A new connection for a new domestic premises

A typical domestic premises will require an 18kVA (80Amp) single-phase connection. This would be ample for a five-bedroom house with no significant or disturbing loads. Your electrician can provide you with this information

Unmetered Connections

If you represent a local authority or highways agency lighting department, a public lighting contractor organisation or a street furniture provider, then we will work with you to provide your connection of an unmetered electricity supply.

Disconnections

Need to arrange the disconnection of an Electricity supply?

You can either contact your electricity supplier to get things started or we can provide you with a disconnection service.

  • Planned demolition date (if applicable).

An increase in the size of your existing connection - fuse and/or service replacement

If you need to make changes to your connection because you have changed your electrical requirements we may need to alter your existing connection and provide you with a quotation.

Connecting Micro-generator to single premises (up to 16A per phase) G98

If you are installing a type tested micro-generator to your premises, your installer must notify us within 28 days of the date of commissioning.

Connecting Micro-generator to multiple premises (up to 16A per phase) G98

There is a key difference between connecting units at one customer site and multiple units within different customer sites and in a close geographic region: for multiple sites, you need to get approval from us before you can connect.

If you want to install generation above 16A per phase (3.68kW) then you need to make an application to connect so we can understand the impact your generation may have on our network & existing customers.

Heat Pump Installations at Existing Premises

If you want to install a heat pump at your property then you or your installer need to assess whether your current electricity supply can support the new heat pump.

This will determine if you need to apply in advance of connecting. If your current supply can not support the heat pump we may need to upgrade your supply.

Existing supply assessment

You need to know:

  • the cut-out rating and/or service equipment is unknown; 
  • the existing supply is provided via a looped service (this includes surface wiring); 
  • there are safety concerns over the adequacy of service equipment; 
  • the new MD is greater than 60A (13.8kVA single phase) for domestic installations;
  • the new MD is greater than the rating of the cutout and/or fuse;
  • the new MD is greater than the existing agreed Maximum Import Capacity for CT metered installations;
  • the aggregated MD of the EV charging point installed at CT metered installations is greater than 30% of its existing agreed Maximum Import Capacity;
  • the existing connection is not metered; or
  • the charge points do not meet the required power quality standards.

Electric Vehicle Charging Point at Existing Premises

If you want to install EV charging equipment at your property, then you or your installer need to assess whether your current electricity supply can support the new charging point.

This will determine if you need to apply in advance of connecting. If your current supply can not support the new charging point we may need to upgrade your supply.

Do you need more power and need your fuse upgraded to 80 Amps or 100 Amps? Upgrading your main fuse is not something your electrician or supplier can do so you will need to send an application to us for this work.
