WE’RE MONITORING A WEATHER FRONT AND ARE READY TO RESPOND TO ANY IMPACT ON POWER SUPPLIES
As at 4.30pm
We're tracking a weather front for heavy rainfall across the North Eastern part of our region. The Met Office forecast rainfall of 30 to 40mm over a 24-hour period, with the impact more significant on eastern facing hills. Currently the view is that this weather system will affect our region during Wednesday night, persisting through much of Thursday.
The current forecast is not in the range where flooding would be expected however the level of rainfall does have the potential to cause pockets of damage to our network, particularly our underground cables, so there is a possibility of some disruption to power supplies in some parts of the region. We are ready to mobilise our team and support our customers should that happen. We have made contact with the relevant Local Resilience Forums to keep them updated.
We will continue to keep our customers and stakeholders updated. Our next update is scheduled to be issued tomorrow morning. If the situation changes, we will provide an update.
