NORTHERN POWERGRID GIVES ADVANCE NOTICE OF INVESTMENT WORKS IN KNARESBOROUGH

Northern Powergrid, the company responsible for the electricity network that powers everyday life for 8 million people across 3.9 million homes and businesses in the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, is providing advance notice of a requirement to undertake new electricity connection work in Knaresborough.

The scheme, which will start on Saturday 27 May and is expected to last until Tuesday 20 June 2023, will involve excavating a trench, joint holes and installation of cables in the carriageway of King James Road and the footway of York Road; adjacent to the pedestrian crossing and the lane towards the Knaresborough Cemetery.

A section of King James Road will be closed to all traffic at the junction with York Road/York Place from Saturday 27 May.

Temporary 3-way traffic signals and a barrier system incorporating a temporary footpath will be established within the junction.

From Monday 5 June the junction will be reopened, but with restricted traffic flow controlled by 4-way temporary signals.

Richard Appleyard, Northern Powergrid’s Connections Delivery Project Engineer said: “Investment work is vital to connect customers to our network and although unavoidable, we do appreciate it can be very disruptive and every effort will be made to keep this disruption to a minimum.

“Our teams will endeavour to ensure access is maintained to properties in the area at all times and we thank local residents and the local community for their patience and co-operation whilst the connection work takes place.”

Northern Powergrid is committed to keeping local people informed and has notified customers within the area, including King James’s School and the nearby swimming facility provider.
