Northern Powergrid, the company responsible for the electricity network that powers everyday life for 8 million people across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, has launched a recruitment campaign for its highly competitive Craftsperson Apprenticeship Programme.
The earn as you learn scheme provides first class training as part of a fully funded programme rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Craftsperson Apprenticeships are for practical individuals who aspire to be trained in the specialist skills needed to work safely and competently on the electricity network, in a variety of roles, including Overhead Linesperson, Electrical Fitter and Underground Cable Jointer.
Andy Bilclough, Northern Powergrid's Director of Field Operations, said: “My career in the power industry started with an apprenticeship, so I’m a strong supporter of these roles. Our future workforce needs to represent the communities we serve, so we welcome people from all backgrounds to apply and fulfil their potential with Team Powergrid.
“This is a great route into an incredibly important industry. Our role at Northern Powergrid is to be an enabler in our region’s journey towards a low carbon future. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously and are extremely proud to be part of. These apprenticeships offer an opportunity to be part of this team, along with a great career, with lots of future progression and professional development.”
Successful candidates will receive a salary from the day they join the business, whilst gaining professional experience and studying for recognised qualifications at college.
Applications for the Craftsperson Apprenticeship launched on 18 May and will close at midnight on Sunday 11 June 2023. Eligibility criteria applies.
